Saturday's First Division North action review

Evo-Stik NPL First Division North

With Skelmersdale United on FA Trophy `giantkilling` duty, Mossley had the opportunity to increase their advantage at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table as they travelled to Irongate to take on Bamber Bridge, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, the Lilywhites had to be content with one point and now lead Skem by two, although Mossley have played five games more.

They fell behind to a 19th minute Andy Bell effort, but were level six minutes later, courtesy of Kayde Coppin.

Greg Johnstone then restored Brig's lead right on half-time. But literally from the kick-off at the start of the second half, Mossley drew level with Coppin again on target.

Trafford's home game against Ossett Albion was one of four that failed pitch inspections on Saturday but third-placed Clitheroe enjoyed a 3-1 home win over bottom-markers Garforth Town to move to within two points of Skelmersdale.

Chris Mason gave the Blues a 28th minute lead that Brett Mbalanda levelled 10 minutes later for the Yorkshire strugglers. The home side needed a helping hand from Garforth's Andy Villermann for their second on 58 minutes and then Chris Smalley made sure with a third on the hour-mark.

Warrington Town are fifth, but were held to a 2-2 draw at Ingfield by Ossett Town.

Ciaran Kilheeney gave the Wire a 17th minute lead that Shane Kelsey equalised seven minutes after the break. John Miles restored the visitors' lead seven minutes later but James Eyles popped up with an 88th minute leveller for Ossett.

Farsley AFC's chances of making the top five were dealt another blow when they went down to a 3-2 defeat at Throstle Nest against Lancaster City.

It was the home side who went ahead after 19 minutes through Adam Priestley. But a Darren Green brace on 31 minutes and then straight after the break gave the Dolly Blues a 2-1 lead that Danny Gregson added to four minutes later. Brice Tiani managed a second for the hosts but it came deep into time added on.

Tom Brooks scored the only goal of the game to give Radcliffe Borough the points at Stainton Park against Prescot Cables, while second-bottom Goole AFC picked up only their seventh point of the season after a 2-2 Victoria Pleasure Grounds draw against Burscough.

And it looked as though the Vikings were heading for a second win as they led 2-0 with goals from Bill Law in the 15th and 32nd minutes. But the Linnets had a two-goal hero themselves in Will Jones, who notched in the 46th and 53rd minutes to salvage a point.
