Mossley maintained their four-point lead at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table after a 2-0 Seel Park victory over struggling Ossett Albion on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Adam Mather was the Lilywhites' hero, bagging a brace with goals in the 35th and 60th minutes.

Elsewhere, title rivals Skelmersdale United remain second after edging out Warrington Town at Cantilever Park. Mark Jackson grabbed the only goal of the game with 16 minutes remaining for Tommy Lawson's side.

Trafford are a couple of points adrift of Skem, but gained a vital 2-1 away win against another of the play-off chasers, New Mills. Shelton Payne put the visitors in front after 19 minutes, but Danny Grimshaw equalised on 41 minutes to take the Millers into the break on level terms. But 14 minutes from the end Chris Palmer popped up with Trafford's winner.

Fourth-placed Clitheroe slipped up, going down to a 3-0 home defeat to Lancashire neighbours Radcliffe Borough who hit the hosts with three goals in the final 20 minutes – including two penalties from James Burke and then Matty Crooks. Crooks added a third from open play two minutes from time to seal the victory.

Farsley FC also slipped up, dropping two points after drawing 3-3 at Stade France with Ossett Town. Wes Milnes gave the home side a 25th minute lead that Farsley eventually pulled back five minutes into the second half. Dave Stead then put the visitors in front 20 minutes from time, only for James Eyles to restore parity for Town seven minutes later. Stead's second of the game came three minutes later, but it wasn't enough as Luke Sharry earned Ossett a share of the points with an 85th minute leveller.

Garforth Town won for only the second time this season, beating Harrogate Railway Athletic 3-2 at Station View. And they got off to a bad start when Jonathan Maloney gave Railway a third minute lead. But goals from Max Leonard after 21 minutes and Nathan Dwyer seven minutes later gave Garforth the lead. Danny Hull for the hosts and Dwyer again for Garforth swapped goals around the hour-mark and the visitors hung on for a second away win.

Wakefield beat second-bottom Goole AFC 3-1 at home with goals from Andy Fieldhouse on the hour-mark and then Caldon Henson and Shequille Clarke in the final three minutes – all that after Dave Taylor had given the Vikings the lead on 43 minutes.

Fourth-bottom Prescot Cables went down to a 3-1 Valerie Park defeat to Curzon Ashton, whose Kristian Dennis gave them a 29th minute lead that Anthony Shinks equalised on 68 minutes. But two goals in the final eight minutes from Matt Purcell and Sam Walker won it for the visitors.

Lancaster City came good at Burscough, winning 4-1 with goals from Dave Swarbrick after just two minutes and Darren Green right on half-time after Niall Cummins had equalised on 33 minutes. Tom Kilifin on 68 minutes and Swarbrick again five minutes from time completed the Dolly Blues' victory.

Danny Hefferman bagged a brace for Salford City but was on the losing side as hosts Cammell Laird scored through Jamie Henders from the spot right on half-time and then Joe Holt and Danny O'Brien in the final seven minutes.

The game at Irongate between Bamber Bridge and Ramsbottom United ended all-square, with Owen Roberts giving Brig the lead just before the break and then Anthony Johnson levelling seven minutes from time.
