Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North

Mossley saw their lead at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table reduced to two points after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Salford City at Seel Park, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Sam Hind gave the hosts an 18th minute lead that Danny White cancelled out after 35 minutes. Hind restored the league leaders' advantage just before half-time, only for Nathan McDonald to restore parity for City just past the hour-mark.

Second-placed Skelmersdale United, who possess no less than six games in hand on Mossley, reduced the gap to two after a stunning 6-1 win not far away at the Tameside Stadium against Curzon Ashton.

Skem led 3-0 at the break with goals from Rob McIntosh after 27 minutes, Mark Jackson on 34 and Gary Burnett after 41 minutes. A Michael Powell own goal added to Curzon's woes 10 minutes after the break, and although Powell scored at the right end on 62 minutes, Tommy Lawson's side bagged two more in time added on, Burnett again and and Mattie Hughes joining trhe party.

Trafford and Clitheroe follow in the table, but both were beaten on Saturday.

Trafford went down to a 2-0 defeat at Stainton Park to Radcliffe Borough, for whom Ben Wharton and Kevin Sanasy were on the mark just after half-time, while Clitheroe were surprisingly beaten 2-0 at home by Ossett Town, Carl Stewart on 35 minutes and Joe Thornton 11 minutes from time scoring.

That allowed Farsley FC to move to within a couple of points of Clitheroe after ending Cammell Laird's recent good run.

Gareth Grant scored a hat-trick as Farsley ran out 4-2 winners at Kirklands. Grant scored his first on 14 minutes after a breakdown at the back, and it was 2-0 just after the half-hour mark when Grant powered his way through on goal before applying the finish.

Jamie Henders netted a penalty shortly before half-time, but Farsley made it 3-1 when Ryan Harrison netted from just inside the box, and it was 4-1 on 74 minutes when Grant again capitalised on defensive lapse. Craig Cairns scored for Lairds late on but the points go back to West Yorkshire.

New Mills possess plenty of games in hand to mount a play-off push, but they suffered a 5-1 home drubbing by lower mid-table Bamber Bridge.

Brig gained revenge over the Millers for the 1-4 defeat in October. Ryan Thompson opened the scoring after 27 minutes with James Hampson equalising after 41 minutes, only for Andy Bell to grab his first to end the first half 1-2.

New Mills had a player sent-off in the first half and Brig didn't took advantage with another three goals, Bell bagging two more and Daniel Wilkins adding a fifth late in the game.

Ramsbottom United earned a 2-1 home win over Wakefield with goals from Lee Gaskell after 12 minutes and Phil Dean just before the break – after Caldon Henson had levelled for the Lions on 38 minutes.

Warrington Town returned to action with a 2-1 win at second-bottom Goole AFC. On the 10 minute mark, debutant Josh Hine volleyed into the corner of the net, giving his new employers an early lead. The hosts pulled level through Aiden Savory 15 minutes from time, but Ciaran Kilheeney rounded the keeper to score and regain Town's advantage two minutes later.

Luke Edwards scored the only goal of the game after 29 minutes to condemn bottom-markers Garforth Town to another defeat, this time at Valerie Park against Prescot Cables while Jesus Samuel Martin-Farina grabbed a last-gasp winner for Harrogate Railway at Burscough.

Ossett Albion lost 3-0 at Dimple Wells against Lancaster City. All their goals arrived in the second half, strikes from Darren Green and Aaron Taylor plus an Aidan Brownlee own goal giving them a comprehensive win.
