The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North lost only one of its fixtures on Saturday, with high-flying Mossley's game against Cammell Laird at Seel Park being postponed, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Leaders Skelmersdale United extended their advantage at the top to nine points after Mark Jackson's goal on 12 minutes proved enough for victory at Ingfield against Ossett Town, while second-placed Trafford went down to a defeat by the same scoreline at Station View by Harrogate Railway Athletic, for whom Liam Hardy was the hero right on half-time.

Ramsbottom United and Curzon Ashton complete the top five and they both won on Saturday. Rammy beat third-bottom Goole AFC 2-1 at home with goals from Jon Robinson in the eight and 72nd minutes after Bill Law had equalised for the Vikings on 17 minutes.

Curzon beat another play-off hopeful, Warrington Town, 4-2 at the Tameside Stadium.

Simon Woodford bagged a brace for the hosts in the fifth and 24th minutes, with top scorer Kristian Dennis adding a third seven minutes before the break. Ashley Ruane reduced the deficit just past the hour-mark, only for Scott Metcalfe to add a fourth for Curzon 13 minutes from time, rendering David Mannix's second for the Wire near the end as nothing more than a consolation.

Sixth-placed Clitheroe were held to a goalless draw at Burscough, but New Mills, with games in hand, moved menacingly into seventh after a 6-0 home demolition of Wakefield.

However, it was goalless at the break after Carlos Meakin had missed a 20th minute penalty for the Millers. But they were ruthless after the interval once Dave Chadwick had broken the deadlock five minutes after the restart. Daniel Douglas-Pringle added the second on 67 minutes, a Keenan Ratcliffe own goal made it 3-0 on 78 minutes, and then Deji Omoboye scored his first goals for the club in the 81st and 90th minutes, sandwiched by an 84th minute Danny Grimshaw effort.

Farsley AFC's play-off hopes took a dive when they were beaten 2-0 at Moor Lane by Salford City, for whom Nathan Taylor on 61 minutes and Chris Monaghan on 76 were the scorers.

Prescot Cables eased clear of danger after edging out Lancaster City by the odd goal in five at Valerie Park. Liam Davis put Cables in front in the 17th minute and Daniel Lambert doubled that 11 minutes later. Darren Green pulled one back for the Dolly Blues eight minutes before the break, but Jonathan Bathurst restored Cables' two-goal cushion in the 65th minute. Green reduced that to one, but his second of the game didn't arrive until stoppage time.

Bottom-markers Garforth Town went down to a 3-0 home defeat to Bamber Bridge, whose Matty Kay on 29 minutes, Chris Marlow five minutes after half-time, and Mark Buchan two minutes later, were the scorers.

Adam Muller gave second-bottom Ossett Albion a 17th minute lead at Stainton Park against Radcliffe Borough, whose Ben Wharton eventually equalised five minutes into the second half as the sides shared the honours.
