Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North

Skelmersdale United are now 'only' eleven points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table after being held to a draw at their West Lancashire College Stadium by third-bottom Goole AFC, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Bill Law put the Vikings ahead after 16 minutes only for Anthony Hickey to restore parity after 27 minutes. Law responded though to put the strugglers back in front seven minutes later and a real shock looked on the cards until Mattie Hughes popped up with a last-gasp equaliser for Skem.

It's now very tight behind Skelmersdale, with only three points separating a now second-placed Ramsbottom United from seventh-placed Curzon Ashton. Rammy edged out Salford City by the odd goal in five at Moor Lane, taking an early through minute lead through Jon Robinson, who doubled that after 22 minutes. Mark Ayres made it virtually game over with a third for the visitors after 69 minutes, before being pegged back by Jamie Rother on 76 minutes and then Rob Kinsella five minutes from time.

Clitheroe are level on points with Ramsbottom after winning 3-0 at Wakefield with goals from Chris Mason after 16 minutes, Lee Pugh from the penalty spot just before half-time and Isaac Kusaloka 10 minutes from time.

Trafford's hopes took a blow when they were beaten by the same scoreline at home by Curzon, whose top scorer Kristian Dennis bagged a brace in the ninth and 66th minutes, Sam Walker adding the other eight minutes from time.

New Mills are now fifth after beating battling bottom-markers by the odd goal in seven in Yorkshire. Brett Mbalanda put the young hosts ahead after just three minutes and then came a burst of three goals in three minutes, starting with James Hampson's equaliser on 22 minutes, then James Burgess restoring Garforth's lead only for Carlos Meakin to immediately level.

Michael Fish then put the Millers in front for the first time on 34 minutes, with Dave Chadwick making it 4-2 with only eight minutes to go, although Steve Richards-Shade's goal in injury-time made it interesting at the end.

Mossley's fall continued and the long-time leaders are now out of the top five after being held to a goalless draw by Lancaster City at the Giant Axe.

Managerless Ossett Albion went down to a 2-1 defeat at Cantilever Park to Warrington Town, whose Ciaran Kilheeney after 57 minutes and Phil Doran on 74 were the scorers, Tyrone Gay netting a late reply for Albion five minutes from time.

Prescot Cables boosted their survival hopes with a 3-1 win at Station View against Harrogate Railway Athletic with goals from Liam Dawson after 35 minutes, Jonathan Bathurst just after the break and Sean Myler on 56. Liam Hardy netted a late consolation for Rail three minutes from the end.

Elsewhere, Bamber Bridge beat Radcliffe Borough 3-1 at Irongate with Mattie Kay opening the scoring after 26 minutes and then two in a minute just before half-time from Matt Lawlor and Greg Johnstone killing off Boro, whose Ben Wharton 'won' the second half with a 78th minute goal.

Cammell Laird eased out Ossett Town 4-2 at home with quickfire braces for Joe Evans in the ninth and tenth minutes and Jamie Henders in the 27th and 30th – the second from the spot – and all that after Ryan Qualter had given Ossett a second minute lead! James Eyles grabbed the visitors' second just before half-time.

The mid-table game at Throstle Nest between Farsley FC and Burscough went to the visitors, whose Jordan Williams after 69 minutes and Liam Caddick on 72 minutes cancelled out Simeon Bambrook's 22nd minute opener for the home side.
