Curzon Ashton moved nine points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division North table following Saturday's win at Farsley AFC and dropped points for both Darlington 1883 and Warrington Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Simon Woodford`s 24th minute effort sealed Curzon`s 1-0 verdict at fourth-placed Farsley`s Throstle Nest.

Warrington were held to a goalless draw at Burscough, while Darlington shared a 1-1 draw at Flixton against Northwich Victoria.

Stephen Thompson gave the Quakers the boost of an early sixth minute lead that Gary Burnett eventually cancelled out 12 minutes from time.

Lancaster City complete the top five and they enjoyed an emphatic 5-2 win against second-bottom Wakefield at the Giant Axe.

The Dolly Blues trailed to a 19th minute Glenn Steel own goal before leading with goals either side of the half-time break from Tom Kilifin and Neil Marshall. Joe Turfrey equalised on 71 minutes before three goals in the final 10 minutes from Ryan Winder, Lee Dodgson and Billy Akrigg won it for the hosts.

Ramsbottom United and Bamber Bridge are the two other candidates for a top five spot and both won.

Rammy edged out hosts New Mills by the odd goal in five, taking an early fourth minute lead through Lee Gaskell. Danny Shaw levelled in the 17th minute but Gaskell went on to complete his hat-trick with goals in the 25th and 30th minutes, and although James Hampson reduced the arrears from the spot a minute before the break, both defences tightened up in the second half.

Alex Taylor gave Bamber Bridge a 20th minute lead at Station View against Harrogate Railway Athletic. Alex Metcalfe equalized on 37 minutes, only for Greg Johnstone to restore the visitors` advantage three minutes after the interval.

At the opposite end of the table, bottom-markers Ossett Albion won 3-0 away at Salford City to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

Liam Schofield after seven minutes, Ryan Harrison on 23 minutes and Caldon Henson in stoppage time at the end of the game scored the Albion goals.

Third-bottom Radcliffe Borough also won, 1-0 at Padiham, courtesy of a Steve Howson effort on the hour-mark and they are now three points in front of Wakefield and two behind New Mills and Prescot Cables, who were beaten 2-1 at Valerie Park by Kendal Town.

Warren Beattie`s 25th minute penalty and Danny Mitchley's 32nd minute effort had the Cumbrians two-up before Isaac Kusaloka replied midway through the second half.

The day's other games saw Cammell Laird and Mossley AFC share a 1-1 Kirklands draw where both goals came within two minutes of each other midway through the opening period – Jamie Henders for Laird and Doug Carroll levelling from the spot for the Lilywhites.

And Ossett Town won 2-0 at Ingfield against Clitheroe with goals from Chris Wood on the 15-minute mark and Jimmy Eyles four minutes later.
