Salford City dropped their first points of the season in the EVO-STIK League's First Division North on Non-League Day, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The ambitious Ammies were held to a goalless draw at promoted Spennymoor Town in front of an excellent crowd of 724. Salford still lead the table by a point, with Farsley AFC and Scarborough Athletic just behind.

Farsley AFC edged out Northwich Victoria, courtesy of an Aaron Hardy penalty on the hour-mark at Throstle Nest, while Boro beat Prescot Cables 2-1 at Queensgate, thanks to goals from veteran Gary Bradshaw and Jordan Thewlis in the final seven minutes after Cables had led through Sam Corless' 43rd minute effort.

Relegated Droylsden had a crowd of 423 for the visit of Darlington 1883 and won 2-1 after they also had to come back from being a goal behind when Graeme Armstrong gave the Quakers an eighth minute lead. Ciaran Kilheeney equalised two minutes after half-time and then Kevin Leadbetter won it for the Bloods just past the hour-mark.

Kendal Town, along with Prescot Cables, are the only other side yet to win, and they were held to a 2-2 Parkside draw by newcomers Brighouse Town on Saturday.

It had looked as though the Cumbrians were going to break their duck as they led 2-0 with goals from Kieron Pickup after 39 minutes and Maison McGeechan five minutes after the restart. But the Yorkshire side scored twice in time added on at the end from Ryan Hall and Tyrone Gay to salvage a point.

Harrogate Railway earned their first win – 3-1 at Burscough - thanks to a brace from Nathan Cartman after Lamin Colley had given them a 19th minute lead that Jordan Williams had cancelled out seven minutes later.

Warrington Town eased to a 3-0 Cantilever Park win over Padiham with goals from Louis Corrigan just before the break, Scott Metcalfe on 64 minutes and Corrigan again from the spot three minutes from time.

Bamber Bridge edged a five goal thriller at Dimple Wells against Ossett Albion, whose Ben Grech-Brooksbank gave them a 19th minute lead. Greg Johnstone levelled within a minute and two minutes later Matt Kay gave Brig the lead that Johnstone eventually added to 10 minutes from time, although Conor McDonagh pulled a second back for the home side to make for a nervy finale.

Mossley AFC eased to a 3-0 Seel Park win over Lancaster City, breaking the deadlock five minutes after half-time through Mitchell Bryant and then adding to their tally through Tom Pratt in the 71st and 76th minutes.

Danny Lafferty gave Radcliffe Borough the boost of an early fifth minute lead at Stainton Park against Ossett Town, whose Steve Jeff levelled from the spot on 37 minutes in the 1-1 draw.
