EVO-STIK NPL First Division North

With leaders Darlington 1883 in FA Trophy action, it was the chance for the chasing pack to make up ground in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, second-placed Droylsden were shocked at home by managerless Burscough, whose Danny Smith scored a last-gasp winner after Kevin Leadbetter had cancelled out Liam Caddick`s 32nd minute opener for the Linnets just two minutes later.

Northwich Victoria moved above Salford City into third place after the Ammies were `ammered` at home by Harrogate Railway and the Vics beat Clitheroe 3-0 with goals from Callum Henry on 39 minutes and then Aboubacar Sanogo after 50 and 72 minutes – the second from the penalty spot.

Nathan Cartman was Railway's hero at Moor Lane, netting a hat-trick in the 4-1 win with goals in the 18th, 30th and 54th minutes after Malachi Farquharson had given them a 16th minute lead – Sam Madeley netting a stoppage time consolation.

Bamber Bridge moved to within a couple of points of Salford in fifth after beating third-bottom Prescot Cables 2-0 at Irongate with goals from Ali Waddecar on the half-hour mark and Paul McKenna eight minutes into the second period.

Farsley AFC are in touch in sixth after a 4-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Ossett Albion at Throstle Nest.

A Lewis Trice own goal set the home side off after 27 minutes and then two goals in two minutes midway through the second half from Aiden Savory and Rob O`Brien took the game away from Albion, with another own goal, this time from Dominic Riordan completing the scoring four minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Albion's neighbours Ossett Town won 2-1 at Ingfield against Lancaster City, thanks to Ross Armstrong after 23 minutes and a Chris Wood spot-kick 14 minutes from time after Billy Akrigg had equalised right on half-time.

Scarborough Athletic's new managerial duo maintained their good start with a 3-0 success at Stainton Park against Radcliffe Borough with Gary Bradshaw, Matty Plummer and Ryan Blott all finding the net.

Kendal Town won by the same scoreline at home to FA Cup heroes Warrington Town – Jordan Connerton's brace and Craig Carney bringing the Wire back down to earth with a bump!

Ernest Boafo bagged a brace to help Brighouse Town to a 3-2 win at Seel Park against Mossley AFC who replied with goals from Brian Matthews two minutes after the interval and Douglas Carroll in the 88th minute.
