EVO-STIK NPL First Division North

After a hectic week which saw the departure of Phil Power and the arrival of joint bosses Anthony Johnson and Brendan Morley, Salford City ended it top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North table on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Ammies won 2-1 at Irongate against play-off chasing Bamber Bridge with goals from Danny Webber after just six minutes and Sam Madeley 13 minutes later.

Ali Waddecar reduced the arrears five minutes into the second half, but the visitors held on for a first win for the new bosses.

Second-placed Darlington 1883's game at bottom-markers Padiham was postponed – as was the game at Brighouse Town – meaning the Quakers possess four games in hand on Salford and are three points behind.

But third-placed Northwich Victoria suffered a 2-1 defeat at Spennymoor Town who are now eighth, but only five points behind the top five with games in hand on most above them.

A crowd of 457 saw Joe Tait give the Moors a seventh minute lead that Aboubacar Sanogo cancelled out just past the hour-mark. Michael Roberts won it for the home side deep into stoppage time.

Fourth-placed Droylsden and fifth-placed Scarborough Athletic were both beaten.

The Bloods were edged out 3-2 at Clitheroe, whose Cory Bent opened the scoring in the 39th minute and Adam Morning levelled right on half-time.

Seydou Bamba restored the Blues` lead on 57 minutes, only for Morning to level again 12 minutes later – Louis Mayers winning it for Clitheroe two minutes from time.

Scarborough lost 3-1 at Dimple Wells against Ossett Albion, despite taking a 12th minute lead through Jimmy Beadle.

Nick Matthews equalised on the half-hour mark and then Dominic Riordan on 43 minutes and Ross Hardaker 10 minutes after the break, won it for Albion.

In-form Harrogate Railway shared a goalless draw at Warrington Town, while their Yorkshire neighbours Farsley AFC moved above them into sixth after winning 3-0 at Throstle Nest against fourth-bottom Radcliffe Borough.

Goals from Adam Priestley after 28 minutes and a brace from Spencer Harris in the 62nd and 70th minutes earned the points.

A Steve Jeff own goal a minute from time saw Kendal Town win 3-2 at Parkside against Ossett Town, who led through Chris Wood's 21st minute effort.

Aaron Helliwell equalised on 32 minutes, only for Sam Akeroyd to restore Ossett's lead in the 74th minute. Ruairidh Winters levelled in the 88th minute and then came Jeff`s unfortunate winner for the Cumbrians.

Second-bottom New Mills and third-bottom Prescot Cables shared six goals in a 3-3 draw at Valerie Park.

Warren Gaskin gave the Millers a 30th minute lead that James McCulloch levelled two minutes later. James Kirby restored the visitors` advantage two minutes after the break and then Daniel Douglas-Pringle made it 3-1 just a couple of minutes later.

However, McCulloch on 57 minutes and then Jack Phillips in injury-time, salvaged a point for the hosts.

Paul Williams gave Burscough a 35th minute lead at Seel Park against Mossley AFC, whose Kyle McGonigle equalised to earn a point 18 minutes from time.
