The weather struck five games off the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League First Division North`s fixture list on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, the game of the day between Salford City and Darlington 1883 did manage to get the go ahead and a crowd of 902 saw the Ammies move three points clear at the top of the table after a 2-0 success.

Danny Webber gave the home side the lead after 32 minutes. And then right at the end of normal time, Sam Madeley ensured there was to be no late comeback with a second.

Scarborough Athletic slipped into fourth spot after an odd goal in five victory at Burscough.

Recent signing Tom Corner gave the visitors a 10th minute lead that Matty Plummer doubled on the half-hour mark.

Paul Williams pulled the Linnets back into the game six minutes later, only for Jimmy Ghaichem to restore Boro`s two-goal lead less than a minute after that. Nick Ryan reduced the deficit to just one on the hour-mark, but Boro held on to seal the points.

Bamber Bridge moved to within four points of the play-off places after a 3-1 Irongate victory over bottom-markers Padiham.

Paul McKenna gave Brig a great start with a goal inside the opening three minutes. But Bobby Langford equalised on 25 minutes, only for Ali Waddecar to restore the home side`s lead five minutes before the break.

In the end, the only goal of the second period came from Andy Bell nine minutes from the end.

Second-bottom New Mills suffered a 4-0 drubbing at the Giant Axe against Lancaster City.

Reece Pearce after nine minutes and Aaron Taylor four minutes later gave the Dolly Blues a great start. And then Matty Poole after 69 minutes, and Taylor again in injury-time, completed the scoring.

Another of the strugglers, Radcliffe Borough, won for the first time under their new management team against Kendal Town at Stainton Park.

Sam Fitzgerald put Boro in front in the 17th minute, only for Reece Fishwick to level eight minutes before the break. Sam Cook eventually restored the home side`s lead on 67 minutes and then Ashford Blake made sure with a third right at the end of the game.

Saturday's only other game saw Clitheroe and Ossett Albion share a 1-1 draw in Lancashire where Connor Bower`s 33rd minute opener for the visitors was cancelled out by a Jason Hart penalty after 66 minutes.
