Saturday's First Division North action review

By David Watters

Brighouse Town were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Mossley AFC in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North on Saturday but still increased their lead at the top to three points, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Ruben Jerome`s sixth minute opener was cancelled out by Mossley`s Kyle McGonigle eight minutes before the break.

But, with Farsley Celtic in FA Cup action, and the game between third-placed Bamber Bridge and fourth-placed Tadcaster Albion ending goalless at Irongate, Brighouse extended their advantage.

Kendal Town moved back into the top five after a 4-2 win at Dimple Wells against second-bottom Ossett Albion.

Oliver Wood gave the Cumbrians a 25th minute lead that Gibril Bojang cancelled out after 69 minutes. But two goals in as many minutes shortly afterwards from Danny Forbes and Sam Bailey took Kendal 3-1 up and to victory, despite a second for Bojang goal 10 minutes from time.

Goole AFC moved out of the bottom two at Albion`s expense after ensuring bottom side Burscough remain win-less.

Goals from David Taylor, Curtly Martin-Wyatt from the penalty spot and Lewis Dennison, had the Vikings 3-0 up by the 50th minute. Dennis Sherriff pulled one back for the Linnets, only for Ombeni Ruhanduka to make it 4-1 in the final few seconds.

Colne FC went nap at home to Prescot Cables, with Matt Beadle bagging a brace and Mark Ayres, Nathan Bond and Dominic Craig singles – Joe Nicholson replying.

Colwyn Bay missed the chance to move closer to the top five when they lost 2-0 at Llanelian Road to Ossett Town, who are now 10th, thanks to Danny Frost after 75 minutes and Devonte Morton five minutes later.

Glossop North End were 2-1 home winners over Ramsbottom United, courtesy of Jamie Rainford after 26 minutes and a 58th minute Martin Parker own goal, scored after Max Leonard had equalised 10 minutes earlier.

The remaining games were all drawn.

Mitchell Bryant struck an 87th minute equaliser for Trafford at nearby Ewen Fields against a Hyde United side whose former Southport boss Andy Bishop had given them a 25th minute lead.

Lee Neville levelled just after the break and Phatt Khamsuk looked to have won it for the Tigers in the 83rd minute until Bryant popped up.

Benny Igiehon gave visitors Scarborough Athletic a 32nd minute lead at the Butcher`s Arms against Droylsden.

Adam Farrell levelled just after half-time, only for David Brown to quickly restore Boro`s lead. Steve Lewis` penalty just before the hour-mark salvaged a point for the Bloods.

Clitheroe led through Bradley Carroll`s 54th minute effort at home to Radcliffe Borough, who earned a point thanks to Aboubacar Sanogo`s 72nd minute spot-kick.
