Saturday's First Division South action review

There were just three matches in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South on Saturday due to the FA Trophy, but they produced twelve goals between them, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Six of them came in the game between Market Drayton Town and Mickleover Sports, who produced a stunning comeback after finding themselves three-down to goals from Martyn Davies, who scored two in the 41st an 47th minute and JJ Bailey in the 50th minute.

Sports did well to recover from the shock of losing three goals in a nine minute spell, but Danny Martin responded with a brace of his own on 75 and 88 minutes and then Karl Ashton levelled things up in the final minute of normal time.

A goal three minutes from time by substitute Ian Brown earned Carlton Town a 2-2 draw at Stoke Lane against third-placed Sheffield FC.

Brown, who had only been on the pitch for seven minutes, reacted quickest to a loose ball in the six-yard box after the visitors failed to clear an Adam Kimberley corner and he forced the ball into the roof of the net.

Sheffield will be kicking themselves for not winning, having controlled large parts of the game and twice taken the lead. Indeed, the Millers were thankful to goalkeeper Martin Kearney - a former Sheffield player - for a number of excellent saves, particularly from Aaron Martin.

As it was, having already hit the woodwork twice in the first half, Club took the lead on 41 minutes through Chris Adam.

Carlton equalised midway through the second half when Reuben Wiggins-Thomas headed home a delightful Kimberley free-kick, but the game looked to be going Sheffield's way when Steve Woolley converted an 82nd minute penalty after Powell was brought down by former Sheffield defender Matt Varley.

That was before Brown's late intervention, which brought some relief to the home support as this was their first home point of the campaign.

Ryan Paczkowski's 84th minute penalty earned Brigg Town a point from a 1-1 draw at Loughborough Dynamo in the only other league game on Saturday.

The Zebras came back after falling behind in the very first minute when recent returnee Jamie Clarke gave Dynamo the lead.
