Coalville Town took advantage of some of the other leading contenders in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South promotion race playing in the FA Trophy on Saturday to move seven points clear after a comfortable home win over Newcastle Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Jerome Murdoch gave the Ravens their breakthrough on the half-hour mark and then two penalties within a minute before half-time saw Matt Lowe pull Castle back on terms. Then, Cameron Stuart restore Coalville's lead and the hosts then grabbed two more in the final four minutes from Anthony Carney to make it 4-1 at the end.

Sutton Coldfield Town moved into fourth place after edging out Belper Town 2-1 at Coles Lane.

Reece Leek gave the Royals a 29th minute lead that Richard Adams cancelled out just before half-time. But Louis Keenan's penalty 16 minutes from time eventually killed off the Nailers.

Sheffield FC dropped two home points in a 2-2 draw with Chasetown, who led through Theo Robinson and Nick Wellecomme efforts midway through the opening half. Andy Gascoigne crucially reduced the deficit just before the break and then three minutes after it, Shoquilee McKenzie equalised.

In-form Lincoln United, bottom not so long back, are now twelfth after a 2-1 win at Loughborough Dynamo, whose Matt Langham scored a late consolation after Scott Coupland and veteran Brendan McDaid gave United a 2-0 lead in the 32nd and 69th minutes respectively.

Carlton Town were beaten 3-2 at home by Market Drayton Town.

Drayton were two ahead inside the opening 10 minutes with strikes from Matt Cohen and captain Martyn Davies. The visitors looked comfortable throughout and seemingly sealed victory with three minutes remaining when Craig Ryan converted from the spot after Corey Nightingale brought down Nick Porter.

However, the Millers pulled one back a minute later when Luke Smithson fired home from close range, and an unlikely comeback was firmly on the cards when Matt Varley converted a 92nd minute penalty after Wes Henry was pulled to the ground by Paul McMullen. There were still two minutes of injury-time remaining, but the points went to Shropshire.

Brigg Town were made to pay for failing to take their chances as Northwich Victoria ran out 3-0 winners at the Hawthorns.

A hat-trick from the visitors' Mike Connor in the 25th, 29th and 75th minutes did the damage, condemning Brigg to their second heavy defeat in four days.

Gresley FC missed the chance to move into the top four after losing 5-3 at Kidsgrove Athletic.

Jordan Gough gave the visitors a 2nd minute lead but poor defending saw Grove move 3-1 up through Andy Kinsey, John Johnston and Craig Dove by the 53rd minute. Marc Goodfellow pulled one back immediately from the spot, only for Liam Shotton to make it 4-2 with 16 minutes to go. Kyle Bryant reduced the deficit to just one with 7 minutes to go, but it was the home side who scored the next goal from Dan Skelton to confirm victory.

An Ellis Storey own goal after 53 minutes gave Grove's neighbours Leek Town victory at Mickleover Sports, while Ben Haseley bagged a brace to see Halesowen Town to victory at The Grove against new-look basement side Hucknall Town, for whom Rob Austin had equalised just before half-time.
