Saturday's First Division South action review

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South

Coalville Town still head the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South table by a staggering fourteen points after edging out Lincoln United 2-1 at Owen Street on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

But the Ravens had to come back from being a 24th minute Gio Cardechi goal down to win, courtesy of Cameron Stuart two minutes after half-time and Jerome Murdoch on 64 minutes.

The second, third and fourth-placed teams all won, although fifth-placed Belper Town could only manage a home draw with Newcastle Town.

Stamford AFC are second after edging out another play-off hopeful, Carlton Town, by the odd goal in five in Nottingham.

All five goals came in a ten minute spell either side of half-time, with Jordan Hemptenstall giving the Daniels a 43rd minute lead and doubling that two minutes after the break.

Matt Varley reduced the deficit from the penalty spot on 49 minutes only for Hemptenstall to strike again to make it 3-1 to Stamford a minute later. Julian Topliss pulled a second back for Carlton three minutes later, but defences tightened up after that.

Third-placed Sutton Coldfield Town won 5-0 at Coles Lane against Brigg Town, who really need to win to maintain their top five hopes.

As it was they were undone by second half goals from Daryl Taylor after 50 and 63 minutes, Kristian Ramsey-Dickson on 69 minutes, Luke Chapman nine minutes from time and Mark Danks with six minutes to go.

King's Lynn Town are fourth and won 2-1 at The Moat against another top five pretender, Gresley FC.

Russ Dunkley put the Linnets in front in the 21st minute and Marc Goodfellow equalised eight minutes after the break, with Jordon Yong winning it for Lynn a minute from the end.

Glyn Cotton's goal right on half-time looked like being enough for Belper at Christchurch Meadow against Newcastle until James Askey popped up with an injury-time leveller.

Halesowen Town are two points behind the Nailers but kept in contention after winning 2-0 at Harrison Park against Leek Town, the victory coming thanks to goals from Luke Corbett just past the hour-mark and, inevitably, Ben Haseley from the spot two minutes from time.

A goal from Jack Farmer after just two minutes eventually proved enough for Chasetown at Market Drayton Town, while Rainworth Miners Welfare's Ian Holmes and Callum Lloyd sandwiched a Luke Keen effort for second-bottom Romulus.

Basement side Hucknall Town suffered another heavy beating, with Sheffield FC's 5-0 Watnall Road success taking the hosts' goals against column to 101. Steven Woolley helped himself to a hat-trick, Andy Gascoigne and Watheq Al-Hakam singles.

Loughborough Dynamo won 4-2 at home against third-bottom Mickleover Sports, taking an early third minute lead through Matt Langham before Martin Smith equalised from the spot after 22 minutes.

Luke Blakely and Reece Lester made it 3-1 to the hosts by the hour-mark and after Tom Kellogg had pulled a second back for Sports on 75 minutes, Jake Dale-Brown made it 4-2 less than a minute later.

James Curley looked like he'd won the game for Kidsgrove Athletic at Marston Road against Northwich Victoria, until Alex Taylor popped up with an 84th minute leveller.
