Sutton Coldfield Town maintained their six-point lead at the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division South table following Saturday's 2-1 win at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds against Goole AFC, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Goole, under new management following Curtis Woodhouse`s departure, took a 14th minute lead through David Taylor, only for the Royals to level within five minutes through Reece Leek. Ryan Boothe`s goal right on half-time eventually proved to be the visitors` winner.

Second-placed Newcastle Town kept up the chace with a 2-0 home win over Gresley FC, courtesy of Tim Sanders after 56 minutes and Josh Gordon 18 minutes from the end.

Third-placed Mickleover Sports were beaten 4-1 at Harrison Park by now fifth-placed Leek Town, who moved above Stafford Rangers after they were held to a goalless Marston Road draw by seventh-placed Lincoln United.

Jordan Johnson bagged a brace either side of the break for Leek, and after Andrew Dales had pulled one back for Sports 20 minutes from time, Liam Shotton and Tim Grice made sure with two more for the hosts.

Spalding United remain fourth after beating Sheffield FC 2-0 at the Sir Halley Stewart Fields, thanks to goals from Jordan Hempenstall after 20 minutes and Mitch Griffiths just before the break.

Bottom-markers Brigg Town picked up only their eleventh point of the campaign to date in a 2-2 Hawthorns draw against third-bottom Kidsgrove Athletic, who led through Anthony Malbon and Dave Walker by the 10th minute.

But a Tyler Collishaw double on 27 minutes from the spot and then in the 62nd minute salvaged a point for the Zebras.

Elsewhere, Alex Troke's 16th minute effort was enough to earn Carlton Town a home win over Chasetown, while Coalville Town hit form at Owen Street against Norton United.

Jake Woolley helped himself to a hat-trick in the Ravens 5-3 win, with Lee Attenborough and Kyle Fowkes also on target – Chris Baker and Kieron Ball for United.

Rainworth Miners Welfare moved five points clear of the drop zone after a good 2-1 win at Coles Lane against Romulus, courtesy of second half goals from Dean Freeman and Romaine Graham after Barry Fitzharris had given Roms a 39th minute lead.

Tividale triumphed 3-1 at Loughborough Dynamo, with Karl Edwards giving the visitors a 24th minute lead that Joe Pheasant cancelled out 10 minutes later, only for goals in the final quarter from Leigh Downing and Jordan Archer to win it for 'Dale.
