Coalville Town extended their lead at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South table to three points on Saturday after their 4-1 win against Market Drayton Town was coupled with second-placed Halesowen Town being held to a home draw, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Cameron Stuart put Coalville ahead from the penalty spot at Owen Street after 20 minutes. But Yannick Makota equalised five minutes later and once Glynn Cotton eventually restored the Ravens' lead after 64 minutes, there looked to be only one outcome with Callum Woodward and Anthony Carney adding two more to finish the game as 4-1 winners.

Halesowen were held to a goalless draw at The Grove by mid-table Chasetown, allowing Belper Town to move to within a point of second spot after a 1-0 verdict at third-bottom Kidsgrove Athletic, courtesy of a 70th minute Colin Marrison penalty.

Fourth-placed Leek Town ended Bedworth United`s mini revival with a 2-0 win at The Oval. Andy Kinsey bagged both for the visitors in the 67th and 77th minutes.

Brigg Town were beaten on the road for the fifth match in a row, losing 3-0 at Mickleover Sports, who are now level on points with fifth-placed Sutton Coldfield Town, who were due to have played Eastwood Town.

Mickleover led 2-0 at the break, with an own goal from Zebras` player-manager Scott Hellewell and one from Jordan Ball. And the hosts sealed the match with 16 minutes remaining with a second from Ball.

Newcastle Town`s play-off hopes received a massive boost after a 2-0 Lyme Valley Stadium victory over fellow contenders Scarborough Athletic. Dan Skelton gave Castle a 16th minute lead that Josh Gordon doubled on 67 minutes.

Carlton Town drew 0-0 at Sheffield FC, thanks in the main to a starring performance from goalkeeper Jonathon Viscosi, while a third goalless draw of the day occurred between Rainworth Miners Welfare and Loughborough Dynamo.

A spectacular strike from Jack Langston after 36 minutes and a goal from Kieran O'Connell four minutes into the second half, ensured all three points for Gresley FC at The Moat against Goole AFC who could only muster a 67th minute own goal with the aid of John Guy.
