Evo-Stik NPL First Division North

Kendal Town moved into second place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division North table on Saturday with a 2-0 win at home to Clitheroe, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Danny Mitchley gave the Cumbrians an early fifth minute lead and just five minutes later Zach Clark threatened a big defeat for the Blues when he made it 2-0. But the visitors settled down after that, although they weren't able to dent the scoreline.

Darlington 1883 are third after beating Salford City 2-0 at Moor Lane. David Dowson broke the deadlock by giving the Quakers the lead two minutes into the second half. And Steve Thompson made sure with a second 17 minutes from time.

Padiham enjoyed their second win since promotion – and in emphatic style after hammering neighbours Bamber Bridge 6-1. Martin Parkes gave the Storks an early fifth minute lead that Ali Waddecar cancelled out. But the hosts hit Brig with a five-goal second half burst, starting in the 63rd minute with Dean Overson netting, Kieron Pickup adding a third five minutes later and going on to complete his hat-trick with Ashley Carter sandwiching the other.

Mossley crossed the Pennines to emerge as 2-0 victors over Harrogate Railway Athletic at Station View with goals from Charlie Anderson after just four minutes and Louis Horne on 22 minutes.

Prescot Cables edged a seven-goal thriller against Radcliffe Borough at Valerie Park. Connor McCarthy put Cables in front after 13 minutes. Matty Chadwick eventually equalised after 57 minutes, only for Mike Smith to immediately restore the home side's lead. But Caldon Henson bagged a quickfire brace in the 71st and 72nd minutes to make it 3-2 to Boro, only for Rob Doran six minutes later and Enzo Benn two minutes from time to turn it back in Cables' favour.

David Bordman gave Wakefield a 52nd minute lead at Throstle Nest in their derby against Farsley FC. Lee Ellington levelled on 68 minutes and then Matty Young put the home side in front with 11 minutes to go, only for Ferdinand Annor to grab a stoppage time equaliser for the Bears.

It also finished 2-2 between New Mills and Northwich Victoria. Gary Burnett gave Vics a 14th minute lead that Danny Shaw cancelled out within three minutes. Matty Barlow put the Millers in front on 66 minutes but Vics earned a point with the help of a Jacob Wood own goal 16 minutes from time.
