Carlton Town missed the chance to move into second place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South table on Saturday when they went down to a 4-2 defeat at Coles Lane against Sutton Coldfield Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Lee Potts gave the Nottinghamshire side a 37th minute lead that Joel Kettle cancelled out right on half-time. That gave the Royals a boost and they went 3-1 up with a brace of penalties, Kettle again on 56 minutes and Dean Perrow on 69 minutes. But Billy Bennett kept Carlton in the game when he reduced the deficit on 78 minutes, only for Reece Leek to net Sutton Coldfield`s fourth six minutes from time.

Rainworth Miners Welfare are eighth but had to be content with a 2-2 home draw with Lowly Lincoln United.

Jordan Ball scored the only goal of the opening half to give the Wrens a 36th minute lead. Matt Langham equalised just past the hour-mark , only for Jamie Clarke to restore the home side's lead from the spot after 63 minutes. But two minutes from time Josh Bowden earned the Whites a share of the spoils.

A late goal in time added on from skipper Sam Craven earned Bedworth United a 2-1 victory at the Oval against Loughborough Dynamo.

Dynamo took the lead in the 57th minute from a free-kick just outside the penalty area by Rob Norris. Mark Branch equalised with a spectacular strike from outside the box, before the Bedworth pressure told and Craven slammed the winner home from close range.

Market Drayton Town slipped into the bottom two after suffering a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Newcastle Town.

Jordan Cole gave the visitors a 38th minute lead, but it was the second period when Castle took control. Cole's second came six minutes after the restart and then Russell Saunders on 74 minutes and James Askey a minute from time, completed a comfortable win for the visitors.

Eastwood Town moved above Market Drayton after sharing the points with Goole AFC at Coronation Park.

Tom Claisse gave the new management team at the Vikings the breakthrough on the hour-mark. But the Badgers earned a point through Kieran Wells seven minutes from time.
