Saturday's First South action review

Evo-Stik NPL First Division South

The majority of the leading pack in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South were in FA Trophy action but Carlton Town failed to take full advantage when they could have gone second in the table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

But they'll settle for third spot after being forced to come from behind to draw 1-1 at home with Belper Town. Mark Ward put the Nailers in front after 51 minutes before Sam MacVicar equalised seven minutes later.

Halesowen Town moved into fifth place after winning 2-0 at the club who occupied that spot at kick-off, Rainworth Miners Welfare. As usual it was Ben Haseley who proved the Yeltz's hero – his brace in the 15th and 75th minutes taking his tally to twelve.

Sutton Coldfield Town missed the chance to go sixth after losing 2-0 at the Lyme Valley Stadium to Newcastle Town, for whom Tim Sanders after 31 minutes and Dan Skelton on the hour-mark were on target.

New Market Drayton Town boss Greg Clowes started with a 3-1 win at The Ovel against Bedworth United, thanks to a double from Nicky Porter and one from Rob Stevenson – Mark Albrighton replying.

Romulus edged Lincoln United by the odd goal in five at Coles Lane, leading 2-0 at the break with goals from Marcus Brown and Craig Marshall before being pegged back by a Danny Brooks spot-kick in the 72nd minute and then Matt Langham in the 85th minutes – only for Danny Dubidat to win it for Roms in the last minute.

New Goole AFC boss David Holdsworth saw his Vikings beat Chasetown 3-1 at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds. And they had to come back from being a 26th minute Nick Wellecomme goal down to win, thanks to Will Johnson-Cole in the 68th minute, James Cottingham 15 minutes from time and Ashley Jackson in the 82nd minute.

Eastwood Town`s game at Loughborough Dynamo was postponed due to the Badgers off-field problems.
