Saturday's First South action review

By David Watters

There were only four matches in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division South on Saturday due to the FA Cup and only one produced a win, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

That was at the Lyme Valley Stadium where Newcastle Town were beaten 3-1 by visiting Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Steels` second win and Castle`s second defeat came courtesy of a brace from Kudakwashe Muskwe in the 17th and 54th minutes and one from Joe Lumsden on 58 minutes – two minutes after Jacob Lovatt had pulled one back for the home side.

The three other matches ended in draws – with Loughborough Dynamo and Carlton Town sharing a goalless encounter.

Northwich Victoria were 2-0 down at Basford United with only 10 minutes to go at Basford United, whose Ben Hutchinson and Gary Ricketts had given them the advantage by the 12th minute. But John Pritchard and then Alec Mudimu pulled Vics back on terms in the 80th and 84th minutes respectively.

Shaw Lane AFC led at Market Drayton Town through Ben Algar`s goal on the hour-mark, only for James O`Neill to pop up with an 89th minute equaliser for Town.
