Saturday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

There were just a couple of matches in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division on Saturday due to the FA Cup, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Rushall Olympic had the opportunity to take top spot but were beaten 3-2 at Dales Lane by Nantwich Town.

The deadlock was broken four minutes from half-time when both sides scored – Dave Walker for Olympic and Christian Smith for the Dabbers.

Then, right on half-time, Will Jones gave the visitors a lead that lasted barely 12 minutes as Kyle Haynes pulled the Pics back on terms.

A point apiece looked likely until stoppage time when Sean Cooke popped up to win it for Jimmy Quinn`s side, who moved up to fourth place.

The other game saw Matlock Town held to a 1-1 draw by Stocksbridge Park Steels and their newly appointed manager Darren Schofield at Causeway Lane draw.

Lewis McMahon's penalty on the hour mark had looked enough to secure the win for the Gladiators but teams with new managers are always dangerous and Steels grabbed a late point with a 90th minute Brett Bowden-Lovell effort.

Where next?
