Skelmersdale United are the new leaders of the EVO-STIK League's Premier Division after winning the table-topper against overnight leaders Buxton on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Buxton's unbeaten run ended at twelve games when Skelmersdale won 2-1 at the Silverlands.

Danny Mitchley gave the visitors a 12th minute lead before Jamie Green levelled for the Bucks on 64 minutes with a scorching free-kick from the angle of the 18-yard box. Tom Ince restored Skem's lead two minutes later from the penalty spot after a foul in the area.

Buxton dropped to third behind Curzon Ashton after the Tamesiders beat Barwell 4-1 at the Tameside Stadium.

Matty Warburton after six minutes and Ryan Brooke eight minutes later gave the hosts` a two-goal cushion. Matty Kay added a third from the spot 11 minutes into the second period, only for Liam Castle to reduce the arrears eight minutes later. But Brooke`s second and Curzon`s fourth eight minutes from time, ensured there were no late scares.

Ilkeston FC and Stamford AFC complete the top five and both won on Saturday.

The Robins beat Rushall Olympic 2-1 at the New Manor Ground, coming back from being a 35th minute Aaron Williams goal down to win. Rob Duffy levelled two minutes into the second half and then Kane Richards grabbed what proved to be the winner after 63 minutes.

Stamford won 2-0 at Westfield Lane to end Frickley Athletic's four-game run without defeat.

Jordan Smith broke the deadlock to put the Daniels ahead three minutes after the break and then Shawn Richards made sure with a second with eight minutes remaining.

Ramsbottom United are sixth after completing a 1-0 win at Trafford, thanks to a 79th minute Jon Robinson effort.

Belper Town remain bottom after losing a seven-goal thriller at Christchurch Meadow against Blyth Spartans.

The see-saw affair had Ian Ross giving the Nailers a sixth minute lead from the spot and then turn round 3-1 down after Danny Maguire on 26 minutes and then two goals in two minutes from Robbie Dale just before the break.

Dale completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute, only for player boss Jon Froggatt to reduce the arrears a minute later and then Stephen Warne reduce it again to just one in stoppage time.

Matlock Town's poor form continues as they were hammered 4-0 at Causeway Lane by Halesowen Town.

Joe Hull gave the Yeltz a 21st minute lead that Ben Haseley added to eight minutes later. Rob Thompson-Brown made it 3-0 just five minutes into the second half and Chris Lait`s penalty with three minutes to go was just the icing on the cake.

Workington AFC and Nantwich Town shared a goalless draw at Borough Park, while FC United of Manchester slipped into seventh spot after beating Whitby Town 2-0 at Bower Fold in front of a crowd of 1,971, Andy Welsh giving the Reds a 10th minute lead that was doubled in the 35th minute by a Richard Pell own goal.

Stourbridge came from behind to earn a point at Amblecote against Ashton United from a game that neither side probably deserved to win.

Phil Marsh gave the visitors a 12th minute lead that was eventually cancelled out by Reece Hales 15 minutes from time.

King`s Lynn Town beat struggling Witton Albion 2-0 at The Walks in Tony Sullivan`s first game in charge of the visitors, Sam Mulready bagging both of the Linnets goals in the fifth and 50th minutes.

Grantham Town led twice at Marine AFC but had to be content with a point.

Michael Towey gave the Gingerbreads an eighth minute lead that Andy Fowler levelled from the spot on 33 minutes. Jordan Hempsenstall restored the visitors' lead five minutes before half-time, only for Lewis Codling to pull the Mariners back on terms 10 minutes after the restart.
