Saturday's Premier Division action review

North-East rivals Darlington 1883 and Blyth Spartans are still be neck and neck at the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division after Saturday`s round of matches, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Quakers remain on top on goal difference after they edged out Mickleover Sports 2-1 at Heritage Park in front of 1,010.

Nathan Cartman gave the home side a 10th minute lead that Adam Mitchell doubled six minutes later. Simeon Oshoboke replied nine minutes later but Sports were unable to find a leveller.

Spartans had a much more comfortable 4-0 win at Silverlands against Buxton.

Danny Maguire netted a hat-trick with goals in the 14th, 30th and 61st minutes – Damen Mullen sandwiching the other on 58 minutes.

Nantwich Town are third but were held to a 1-1 Weaver Stadium draw by Marine AFC, whose Danny Mitchley cancelled out Matty Bell`s 14th minute opener for the Dabbers right on the half-time whistle.

Goals from Charlie Coulson and Joe Burgess helped Ilkeston FC beat struggling Grantham Town 2-1 and move into fifth spot.

Ben Saunders replied for Grantham eight minutes from time but they also had a penalty saved.

Hyde United are threatening the top five after going nap at Ewen Fields against bottom-markers Ramsbottom United.

Scott Spencer broke the deadlock on 33 minutes and then the Tigers hit Rammy with four goals in 11 minutes either side of the break from Ayrton Bevins with two and Spencer with two more to complete his hat-trick.

Hyde slipped above Sutton Coldfield Town, whose lost 3-1 at Westfield Lane against Frickley Athletic, whose Zeph Thomas opened the scoring after 35 minutes.

Bradley Grayson then bagged a brace in the 60th and 70th minutes, with the Royals replying through Luke Rodgers four minutes later.

Harry Coates was sent-off as Matlock Town were beaten 2-1 at the Turnbull Ground by struggling Whitby Town.

Matty Waters gave the Seasiders a 34th minute lead that Michael Roberts doubled from the spot just before half-time. Joel Purkiss scored for the Gladiators 18 minutes from time.

Luke Benbow bagged two for Rushall Olympic in the 58th and 90th minutes at Dales Lane against Colwyn Bay, whose Robbie Booth had given his side a 33rd minute lead.

Halesowen Town are now ninth after a 2-1 win at The Grove against Skelmersdale United.

Aaron Daniels gave the Yeltz a 14th minute lead that Reece Hales eventually doubled 18 minutes from time. Rob McIntosh pulled one back for Skem with just three minutes remaining.

And Stamford AFC remain second-bottom after Jason Gorton`s 26th minute effort eventually proved enough for Ashton United at Hurst Cross.
