Saturday's Premier Division action review

It was the fourth time this season that Altrincham were unable to beat Warrington and left it very late to salvage a point after the visitors had taken a 19th minute lead when Dylan Vassallo’s shot squirmed in.

It took the Robins until the second minute of added time when Jamie Poole’s shot looked to have been stopped by keeper Tony McMillan but somehow it crossed the line for the equaliser.

Shaw Lane AFC were held to a goalless draw at home by fourth-placed Ashton United, allowing Grantham Town to move above them into second on goal difference after a 4-2 win against Stourbridge at The Meres.

The Gingerbreads were ahead after 22 minutes when Lee Shaw battled down the left and crossed to Andy Wright who fired home. Just after the half-hour mark, Stourbridge were level, Grantham`s Tom Potts attempted to cut out at near post cross but poked it home instead.

With 8 minutes left in the half, the Gingerbreads ran riot. Danny Meadows rifled home from 18 yards to make it 2-1, and four minutes later it was 3-1 when Shaw headed home his 28th goal of the season.

Then it was Michael Hollingsworth turn to get on the scoresheet in first half injury-time. The second half started with Stourbridge being awarded a penalty in the but keeper Kieran Preston pushed the ball wide and out of danger. In added time Stourbridge did get a second goal through Kyle Perry.

Farsley Celtic are level on points with fifth-placed Warrington, but were held to a 2-2 draw at Mickleover Sports.

A Nathan Cartman strike broke the deadlock to give Celtic the lead four minutes after half-time, only for Pablo Mills to equalise within two minutes. Andy Dales then gave Sports a 65th minute lead, but a late Luke Parkin leveller three minutes from time saw Farsley earn a draw.

Workington AFC are seventh, two points behind Farsley but with two games in hand.

However, they were beaten 4-1 by bottom-markers Sutton Coldfield Town, who are now only a point from safety. The Reds led at the break, thanks to a 27th minute Josh Calvert effort.

Justin Richards equalised in the 64th minute and then put Neil Tooth`s side ahead eight minutes later. A 30-yard effort from Tyler Lyttle made it 3-1 in the 79th minute, with Niall Flint adding a fourth in the 84th minute.

That result was bad news for Stalybridge Celtic, who went down to a 1-0 defeat at Kirkby Road against Barwell, Matt Stenson`s 11th minute effort eventually proving enough for the Canaries.

Halesowen Town are three points above Celtic but were also beaten, 2-0 at the Giant Axe by mid-table Lancaster City, Mamadou Djabi giving the Dolly Blues a 15th minute lead that Billy Akrigg eventually added to 18 minutes from time.

Marine AFC are just a point better off than the Yeltz after sharing a 2-2 draw at home to one of the teams just above them in the table, Rushall Olympic.

It didn`t look good for the Mariners as the Pics led 2-0 with goals from Andre Landell after 10 minutes and Sam Whittall 10 minutes later. Danny Mitchley`s penalty pulled them back into the contest 20 minutes from time and Kenny Strickland earned them a point seven minutes from time.

Witton Albion won the derby 4-1 at Wincham Park against Nantwich Town, taking an early third minute lead through Rob Hopley.

James Foley added a second after 28 minutes, only for Sean Cooke to maintain his good scoring form of late with a 70th minute reply for the Dabbers. But Hopley again five minutes later and then Steven Tames four minutes after, that took the game away from the visitors.

Karl Hawley bagged a brace for Stafford Rangers as they saw off Matlock Town 2-0 at Marston Road, the striker scoring in the 15th and 49th minutes.

Elsehwere, Buxton were ahead at half-time at Silverlands against Coalville Town in a 2-2 draw, courtesy of a 21st minute Liam Hardy spot-kick.

Nathan Watson equalised four minutes after the break with a penalty of his own and then gave them a 63rd minute lead from open play. Joe McGee grabbed an 89th minute equaliser for the Bucks.
