Scholars confirm double break

Chasetown midfielder Josh Craddock suffered a double leg break during his side's 1-0 win over Rugby Town in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League on Saturday.

Craddock, pictured, was hurt approximately 20 minutes into the EVO-STIK NPL First Division South clash at The Scholars Ground with the score at 0-0. Play restarted 15 minutes after the incident, James Dance going on to score the only goal for the hosts two minutes after the break.

After being treated on the pitch, the 25-year-old former Walsall, Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, Stourbridge and Rushall Olympic midfielder was moved to the club's medical room before being ferried to hospital in Walsall with suspected fractures to his fibia and tibia.

The Scholars wished the 25-year-old a speedy recovery on Saturday night after being inundated with messages of support on social media from Craddock's former clubs and the fans and officials at many others in the region including Lichfield City and opponents Rugby Town.

Before Chasetown tweeted confirmation of the double break, a club spokesman said: "Everyone at the club is thinking of Josh and hoping he is okay and able to make a speedy recovery. All our thoughts are with him tonight and we wish him well."

Craddock was the second player to suffer a break in the EVO-STIK NPL on Saturday after Radcliffe Borough's game with Colne at Stainton Park was abandoned following an injury to on-loan Everton keeper Matthew Johnson in the 20th minute. The EVO-STIK NPL First Division North fixture was called off before the 18-year-old, pictured below, was taken to hospital in Bury with a suspected break to his lower leg.
