S/East Round-Up: Leek stay top with 3-0 victory

Leek Town remain five clear at the top following a 3-0 victory over Worksop.

Striker Tim Grice, the league’s top scorer, continued his fine form with two goals, while teammate Robert Stevenson opened the scoring in the 13th minute.

The side are now unbeaten in their last 15 league fixtures, while Worksop sit mid-table in 12th.

In second place, Stamford recorded a 2-0 victory over Kidsgrove Athletic with goals from Harry Vince and Cosmos Matwasa.

Just below on 46 points, Cleethorpes Town defeated Glossop North End 2-1. Curtis Bateson opened the scoring for the third-placed side, before Braulio Maieico levelled the scores in the 38th minute. However, Oli Donald scored in the 45 minute for a 2-1 result.

Belper Town were held to a 2-2 draw with Spalding United at home. The visitors took the lead through Lewis Brownhill before Phil Watt equalised, and Spalding again took the lead through Brownhill, but a late Alex Peterson goal saw a share of the spoils at full time.

In fifth spot, goals from Ross Goodwin and Kurtis Turner saw Stocksbridge Park Steels seal a 2-0 win away to Chasetown.

The biggest victory of the weekend went to Sutton Coldfield Town, who displayed a dominant performance to claim a 6-0 victory over Market Drayton Town.

Ryan Moore scored a double for the visitors inside the first 25 minutes, before teammates Edwin Ahenkorah, Desean Martin, Reece Gibson and Ben Usher-Shipway also got on the scoresheet.

Loughborough claimed a fine 1-0 victory over Frickley Athletic, seven places above in the BetVictor S/East Division table.

Lincoln United claimed a vital three points to extend their gap from the relegation spot, defeating Newcastle Town 1-0.

At the bottom of the table, Wisbech fell 2-0 to Ilkeston Town, with Mason Lee and Kole Lambert scoring on the day, while Carlton Town claimed a 3-0 win over the world’s first in Sheffield.
