Second performance kings named!

By David Watters

Altrincham, Corby Town and Hyde United are October's winners of the EVO-STIK League's Club of the Month accolades!

The trio were named on Thursday as the second winners of this season's monthly awards to recognise and reward the top performers among the 68 clubs playing in the EVO-STIK League's three divisions on the back of their results, form and performances over the last four weeks.

Like all winners of the monthly honours, all three clubs are now looking forward to being presented with an engraved glass memento to mark their success and a bottle of spirits to celebrate with at upcoming fixtures by representatives of the Northern Premier League.

EVO-STIK League Premier Division leaders Altrincham pipped FA Cup giant-killers and second-placed Shaw Lane to the top flight's performance accolade on the back of their unbeaten record in October.

Under the guidance of manager Phil Parkinson at the J Davidson Stadium, the Robins romped to four wins and two draws from six league outings to top the table as well as progressing in both the Integro League Cup and Buildbase FA Trophy with victories over Ashton United and Clitheroe respectively.

Corby Town and caretaker manager Steve Kinniburgh are celebrating their first award of the season at Steel Park after bagging four wins from four outings in EVO-STIK League South last month to climb away from trouble and up to sixth in the table.

While dragging themselves clear, the Steelmen also progressed in the Buildbase FA Trophy with a preliminary round victory at Romulus before going out of the competition at St Neots last Saturday in their final fixture of the month.

Hyde United under the management of Darren Kelly at Ewen Fields were the standout performance kings and worthy winners of their first honours of the historic 50th anniversary season in EVO-STIK League North.

As well as looking forward to hosting MK Dons in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup on BBC 2 on Friday night after their 2-0 win at Scarborough Athletic in the fourth and final qualifying round, the Tigers progressed in both the Integro League Cup and Manchester Premier Cup and climbed to fifth in the table with three wins from three outings.
