Shaw's new duo add strength in depth

Worksop Town

Worksop Town manager Mark Shaw has two new faces on board at Sandy Lane after adding Patrece Liburd and Aaron Cole to his Evo-Stik Northern Premier League squad ahead of the weekend's action.

St Kitts & Nevis international central defender Liburd, 25, signed on Friday from First Division North Ossett Town, a day after 21-year-old winger Cole arrived from Midland Alliance outfit Rocester FC.

Liburd kicked off his career at Bradford City before moving on to Nottingham Forest. After being released by Forest, he joined Worcester City and has gone on to play for Dorchester Town, where he was captain, Macclesfield Town, Farsley Celtic, Droylsden, Harrogate Town, Garforth Town, Curzon Ashton and Frickley Athletic.

Cole, who can also play at full-back, came up through the junior ranks at Derby County, spending twelve years with the Rams. During his time at Derby he was loaned out to Stockport County and Eastwood Town. He started last season at Barrow but also played for Hinckley United before moving to Nantwich Town.

Both players go straight into the Tigers squad for Saturday's FA Trophy clash at Ramsbottom United and Shaw said: "Liburd is a welcome addition adding experience as well as depth and competition to the squad. Laurence Gaughan and Chris Salt have done well but since Kern Miller’s departure I have been looking for another centre half to add competition.

"Cole is very good player with an excellent pedigree who will add depth and competition to the squad. He is good young signing which fits in with the ethos of what we are trying to achieve at Worksop."
