Shooting star departs Rammy

Ramsbottom United

Fans favourite Grant Spencer has left Ramsbottom United to sign for Conference North champions Hyde.

The 20-year-old former Bolton Wanderers junior joined at the start of last season, scoring five times to earn the North West Counties League’s April Player of the Month award and help United seal promotion to Evo-Stik NPL First Division North.

Spencer goes with Ramsbottom still cleaning up after last week’s floods at their ground. Despite the blow of losing the rising star who made a massive impact as the club recorded 12 wins and a draw from their last 13 games, he leaves with the best wishes of the club and joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.

Spokesman Tony Cunningham said: “Everyone at The Harry Williams Riverside Stadium wishes him well and he leaves with our thanks for being such an integral part of the successful Ramsbottom United team.”
