Leek Town manager Lee Casswell is delighted that summer capture Danny Smith has pledged his immediate future to the Blues despite his former club Kidsgrove Athletic putting in seven days notice of approach for the versatile defender, writes Michael Cope.
Smith, pictured, is now in his second spell at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club having spent three months at Harrison Park from August 2006 when he made 22 appearances.
The defender subsequently went on to play for Nantwich Town and Rocester before signing for Kidsgrove in July 2008.
His performances at right back for Grove over the last three seasons resulted in him being named Supporters Player of the Year in each campaign and he is now one of four players who've made the move from Kidsgrove to Leek during the summer after following in the footsteps of midfielders Sam Hall, Karl Charlton and Ross Davidson.
