Soap stars in charity cup challenge

By David Watters

Warrington Town

A charity football match between a Warrington Town XI and an Emmerdale cast and crew XI will be in memory of a mother of two who tragically died from breast cancer leaving two teenage children.

The game at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Wire's Cantilever Park on Sunday May 19 will see the teams competing for the 'Kay Carter Cup' in memory of the Warrington mum, pictured, who died on December 27 2011.

Her husband Ian 'Salty' Carter, a retired police officer who now works as a PCSO at Lymm and colleagues based at Stockton Heath, teamed up with Town to stage the charity game to raise funds for St Rocco's Hospice and the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North club's Community Development Programme.

The match will feature Warrington based soap star Luke Roskell, aged 16, who plays 'bad boy' Sean Spencer in Emmerdale and other members of the cast and crew.

Tickets are priced at £5 and include being entered into a raffle with the chance of winning some great prizes, including a Warrington Town Vice Presidency worth £500.
