Blyth Spartans' keepers are are wearing brand new training kit to help raise awareness of a rare illness after the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club signed a sponsorship deal with local charity Breathtakers.

Spartans keepers Conor Grant and Matty Hunter are now displaying the charity's logos on their new kit to support families affected by the rare condition Obliterative Bronchiolitis, a life limiting form of non-reversible obstructive lung disease that occurs in children and adults after injury to the lower respiratory tract.

The keeper's coach Carl King, pictured with his keepers, said: "It is fantastic that a charity that may not be as well known and a condition that certainly isn’t, will be able to gain more awareness through our lads wearing their logo."

Breathtakers’ North East representative Joanne Cameron said: "Blyth Spartans are a club steeped in history and tradition, one of the most famous Non-League clubs in the country so I'm delighted that the Breathtakers logo will be on the goalkeepers training kit.

"We chose the goalkeepers because my own son Adam was a very good keeper so it seemed the natural choice. Adam suffers from the condition Obliterative Bronchiolitis which is what Breathtakers is all about so on a personal level I'm delighted to have the charity logo on Conor, Matty and Carl's kits."
