Spartans launch dedicated TV channel

Blyth Spartans are launching their own YouTube television channel to keep supporters across the world in touch with the action and news from Croft Park.

The media savvy Evo-Stik Northern Premier League outfit believe their latest venture into new media will be a massive hit with fans already enjoying Radio Northumberland's new coverage of their games this season as well as a dedicated monthly Spartans Podcast.

The Green Army's programme editor Glen Maxwell is taking charge of the new channel - BSAFCTV - which is due to start broadcasting from the start of preseason in July.

Maxwell said: "We have a fantastic media department here at Blyth. However, I suppose the only thing that has let us down has been the lack of video really. We've identified that now and, with the launch of BSAFCTV, we'll be able to cover all aspects of the club and give supporters even more content to enjoy.

"There's still over a month of this season to go so there's plenty of time for us to announce everything ahead of the channel going live in July. We know what the supporters want to see and, hopefully, they'll not be disappointed with the channel. We've had a few discussions regarding content and there are some great ideas, some of which are in the early stages of development.

"Because of that, I can’t reveal too much about those at the moment. All I will say is, I've already spoken to someone who is keen to provide video coverage of our home games next season, which I’m sure will be a very popular addition for all of our Spartans exiles."

Media Manager Phil Castiaux added: "This is another exciting step forward for the club. We are covering many bases now, when it comes to taking advantage of emerging media opportunities. That's all down to the dedication, creativity and thoroughness of the volunteers who form the media team here at Blyth Spartans."
