Spartans score media double!

Fans of Blyth Spartans can hardly escape their beloved club on social media after the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League outfit opened an Instagram account to celebrate the launch of their new Podcast on Monday.

Supporters - not short of interaction already via their club's official website, Facebook and Twitter - now have access to exclusive club snaps on the online photo sharing network.

The club's media department opened the smart phone app account seven days before Monday's first podcast, adding new images each day as they counted down to Monday's opening episode of the monthly Podcasts from Croft Park in association with Radio Northumberland.

Presented by the station's Head of Sport Jonny Hall and Spartans Press Officer Mark Carruthers, the first download features an exclusive interview with Spartans Chairman Tony Platten on matters on and off the pitch.

Blyth's managerial team of Paddy Atkinson and Tom Wade are under the spotlight in a soon to be regular 'From the Terraces’ feature, veteran fan Scott Dewhurst giving his thoughts on the season so far, while assistant manager Wade also reveals his own opinions on the campaign.

Spartans Media Manager Phil Castiaux said: "As we have looked to improve the media output of the club, we realised that social media is a key way of getting information to our supporters. We now have the Twitter account thriving alongside the existing Facebook page and now the Podcast is up and running too so we are pleased with what we can offer our supporters."
