Sports launching new youth team

Mickleover Sports are entering a newly formed Under 19s side in the Baris North Midlands League next season, writes Phil Matthews.

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Sports have appointed Gavin Warren to manage the new Academy oufit with the brief of building a structure to support the first team at the Raygar Stadium and the work of joint managers Glenn Kirkwood and Craig Hopkins.

Warren believes he already has the nucleus of a side with players coming through from the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South oufit's Under 16s and Under 18s but is planning summer trials and looking to quickly appoint a team of coaches.

He said: "This is a great opportunity to watch some talented young players from around the area. The games should prove a good test for all the teams involved and provide excellent entertainment for the local community. We will also be entering the FA Youth Cup which will be great experience for the young lads."
