Stafford land Port Vale midfielder

Berks, 19, has penned a deal at Marston Road until Christmas.

The club said: “Prior to league clearance and confirmation, we can announce Joe Berks will be joining us on loan from Port Vale until Christmas.

“An exciting prospect and attacking midfielder Joe becomes yet another member of the Berks family to represent The Boro.”

He is the great-grandson of former Port Vale assistant manager Reg Berks.

Last season he grabbed the headlines with a sensational goal for the Port Vale youth team at Bury, which was nominated for goal of the month.

Berks took the ball from the kick-off, beat four players, and then smashed the ball into the corner from the edge of the area.
