Stamford set new stadium record crowd

Stamford broke their crowd record at the Zeeco Stadium for the visit of Football League side Peterborough United.

A crowd of 1,573 turned up to witness a 6-0 win for the League One side.

Darren Ferguson's first team squad struck three times in each half, but Stamford boss Graham Drury was pretty pleased with his side's showing.

He told the club's official website: "We did give three sloppy goals away - the penalty, free-kick and another at the end - but we've got five players away at the moment who are quite big for us and I've only had these boys together training for five hours.

"There's 16 new faces so I'm pretty pleased. I can't thank Peterborough enough for what they have done for our club.

"It's a good fundraiser for us, but it's also a fantastic exercise for my boys and I wish Peterborough all the best for the season. They look like they've got a quality squad this season."

Stamford's line-up included just four players from last season, while new signing Louis Danquah also caught the eye.

Amongst the Posh scorers was their recent signing from AFC Fylde Serhat Tasdemir.

The BetVictor Northern Premier South East Division side have played at the Zeeco Stadium since December 2014.

A crowd of 819 saw the opening fixture, a 2-2 draw against Nantwich Town.
