Evo-Stik NPL Players of the Year Awards

Time is running out for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s fans to register their nomination for the NPL Facebook Group’s 2014 Supporters Player of the Year.

Won last year by North Ferriby United’s Ryan Kendall, pictured, the accolade will be presented for the third time in April at the now annual Evo-Stik NPL Players of the Year Awards in Barnsley on Sunday 6 April.

The brainchild of former Manchester City keeper and NPL man Alan Ogley, the awards are a unique celebration at the top levels of Non-League football with the focus on recognising the league’s stars after a secret ballot by their managers and coaches.

They still have a few more weeks to register their votes in the main awards but fans now only have until 11pm on Tuesday to nominate their favourite players and make sure they make the short-list for the NPL Facebook Group’s prestigious Fans’ Player of the Year Award.

The title was won last season by Kendall a few weeks before his club were crowned as top flight champions and is the only footballing honour in the UK run by fans. Kendall has been urging fans on Twitter this week to beat the deadline to find his successor by making their online nomination via email, Twitter or Facebook (see below for details).

The NPL Facebook Group’s James Heyes said: "The final days are approaching, and although the standards of this year’s nominees have been high again this season, not every club has yet had a player nominated. The only way to do this is through the fans so we hope they won’t let a player who deserves this award miss out on the opportunity to win it!"

As well as the NPL Facebook Group's accolade and the new Evo-Stik NPL Fan of the Year Award, launched this season to honour the league’s top supporter, the event at the four star Brooklands Holiday Inn in Barnsley will see two players named as Player of the Year and Young Player of Year in each division along with 11 more in three Teams of the Year.

An individual’s outstanding contribution to league off the field of play will also be recognised with the Evo-Stik NPL Merit Award, won last year by Matlock Town’s Keith Brown and for the first time in 2012 by Marine’s legendary former manager, Roly Howard.
