Stevens, who left the Meres on Wednesday, needed no introduction on his return having been an integral part of the side that reached the FA Cup First Round proper in 2004 as a player before guiding the club to promotion in 2011 and an FA Vase Final as manager.
Having narrowly missed out on promotion for two seasons, Stevens left in September 2014 and after a period out of the game guided Grantham Town for nearly three and a half years before standing down in the wake of the club's EVO-STIK League Premier promotion play-off final defeat at Ashton United.
Pictured shaking hands with Coalville Town chairman Glyn Rennocks on his return, Stevens said: "As a Coalville person I am delighted to be back here at my hometown club. I am looking forward to getting started on shaping the squad ahead of preseason, meeting the players and getting to know the supporters again."
Stevens will be assisted by Danny Martin when the 2018 Integro League Cup finalists kick-off in the new EVO-STIK Southern League Central next season and Rennocks told supporters the decision to name him as the successor to Tommy Brookbanks was unanimous.
Rennocks told the club's official website: “We have been through a very thorough interview process and I was pleasantly surprised at the calibre of people that applied. I’m sure many of them would have proved to be a good appointment but we were unanimously in favour of appointing Adam and we are delighted he has accepted the challenge of taking the club to the next level.”
