Brigg Town manager Mick Gray has snapped up striker Gary King ahead of Saturday's big kick off to the new Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign.

The First Division South's Zebras announced on Monday that the 23-year-old had become Gray's latest recruit at the Hawthorns with the start of the new season now only days away.

King has previously played for Lincoln City, making 11 appearances in the Football League and scoring on his debut against Brentford, Accrington Stanley, Boston United, Grantham Town, Stamford, Hinckley United and Louth Town.

The striker earned his deal in Brigg's pre-season friendlies against Grimsby Borough and Beverley Town and put-pen-to paper after Saturday's match.

Gray was delighted to capture the frontman and said: "A lot of clubs were after Gary and I'm thrilled that he has chosen to come to the Hawthorns. Gary and the rest of the squad can't wait for the season to get underway at Chasetown on Saturday."

The Zebras also announced on Monday that they've sent out three of their U19s players to Northern Counties Eeast League Premier Division outfit Winterton Rangers. Jamie Forrester, Finn Kelly and Jack Tranmer have initially joined Winterton for a month in the hope of gaining valuable first team experience.

A club spokesman said: "Brigg Town would like to wish them every success during their loan spell and will follow their progress with interest."
