Striker is five star signing

By David Watters

Buxton manager Martin McIntosh has made two more key signings, taking his aquisitions for the upcoming 2016-17 EVO-STIK Northern Premier League campaign to five.

Striker Brad Grayson and defender Danny Burns have become the fourth and fifth new players to commit to the Bucks, following in the footsteps of Jan Budtz, Reece Lucasa and Lee Bennett.

McIntosh snapped up Grayson from Frickley Athletic after he scored in the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club's friendly earlier in July at Brighouse Town.

The 23-year-old's ample experience of the EVO-STIK NPL began in 2011 on leaving Doncaster Rovers to join Frickley for the first time. After a season with the Blues he spent the 2012-13 campaign with Matlock Town. Grayson was top scorer at Stocksbridge Park Steels in 2014-15 and last term returned for a second spell with a much-improved Frickley side.

In addition, he squeezed in three overseas stays, averaging better than a goal a game for Ange IF in Sweden in 2013 before further summer stints in south Australia with Cumberland United, pictured, and in the Philippines.

By contrast, centre-back Burns, 19, is kicking off his first prolonged spell in Non-League following his release last spring by Cambridge United. A broken leg kept him on the sidelines of the 2014-15 campaign but last season he did well on loan with Cambridge City, Bishop's Stortford and twice with Lowestoft Town before returning to his south Yorkshire roots.
