Strongmen elbow out players!

Yorkshire's strongest men have been descending on EVO-STK Northern Premier League Frickley Athletic and their JJ Leisure Stadium.

A partisan crowd of more than 500 saw Normanton's Mick Brown take the title of Yorkshire's Strongest Man 2014 in an event organised by the Premier Division club's partners at FunMeFit and the HULKS Strongman Division.

The day long competition on Sunday 19 October saw fans from all over the country arriving at Westfield Lane, one travelling all the way from Portsmouth, while the majority arrived from the local area, Bridlington, Huddersfield and Harrogate.

As the competition was an 'open event', they were treated to the sight of 14 strongmen from across the country battling through a set of gruelling events including a log lift, deadlift, super yoke, vehicle pull and atlas stones.

* Delighted Blues officials have announced that the Premier Division club's redevelopment fund total has now risen to over £38,000, leaving the them only £12,000 short of the £50,000 target for their contribution towards the £650,000 project to build a new community sports pavillion. Once complete, the new facility will house four new changing rooms, a physio room and a community room.
