The Doodson Sport Cup

There were a handful of games in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Doodson Sport Cup this week but there was no shortage of goals and action, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

On Monday night, First Division North Harrogate Railway Athletic saw off First Division South side Goole AFC 2-1 at Station View, thanks to a brace from in-form striker Nathan Cartman in the final two minutes of the game after Billy Law had given the Vikings a 50th minute lead.

On Tuesday there were wins for Premier Division sides Marine AFC and high-flying Ramsbottom United.

The Mariners enjoyed a welcome 2-0 win at First Division North Kendal Town, thanks to Lewis Codling five minutes before half-time and Karl Clair five minutes from time.

Rammy hammered Kendal's league rivals Burscough 5-1 at the Riverside – and after Wade Joyce had given the Linnets an eighth minute lead.

Alex Piacentile equalised nine minutes later and then a Liam Duff own goal and Steve Howson gave the hosts` a 3-1 half-time lead. Jordan Hulme and Grant Spencer added two more in the second period to make it a nap hand for Rammy.
