Disgusted officials at Chorley are cleaning up for the second time in a year after thieves raided the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club’s Victory Park.

Police are now investigating the raid at the Premier Division’s Magpies which took place sometime between 10pm on Wednesday night and 7.20am on Thursday morning.

The yobs targeted the club’s CCTV and alarms system before smashing a hole in the boardroom roof to enter the building, leaving thousands of pounds worth of damage before stealing three televisions, stereo systems, a DVD player and even biscuits. A snack bar was also targeted with much of the stock stolen.

Vice-Chairman Graham Watkinson told the Chorley Guardian: "The same incident happened less than a year ago and they managed to get away with things then.

"People have tried before to come through the roof but they haven’t always managed to do it. But this time they have made a real mess of things and I’m disgusted that people think this is right."

He added: "There is no need for what happened, we will be reviewing all the CCTV footage that we have with hope that these vandals can be caught."

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We have opened our investigations and we are collecting evidence. Anyone with information should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
