Third award for performance kings!

By David Watters

Shaw Lane Aquaforce are looking forward to collecting their third EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Club of the Month accolade of the season after they were named alongside Spennymoor Town and Darlington 1883 as the penultimate winners of the campaign.

Unveiled on Friday as March's trio of winning clubs, they are now looking forward to being recognised for their consistent success over the last four weeks when they are honoured at upcoming fixtures.

Handed out every month, the performance honours are sponsored by Bostik Ltd, parent company of the Northern Premier League's title sponsors EVO-STIK, to recognise and reward the top performers in the league's three divisions.

As well as collecting inscribed glass trophies to mark their achievements from representatives of the sponsors and the EVO-STIK NPL, each club will also be presented with a 4.5 litre bottle of Bells Whiskey.

After collecting the First Division South performance laurels in October and February, Craig Elliott and his second placed side were honoured at Shaw Lane on Saturday for the third time by EVO-STIK NPL representative Mark Ogley before beating Spalding United to stay seven points behind leaders Stafford Rangers with three games in hand. To earn their latest honour, The Ducks won six and drew two of their eight league outings in March.

Darlington 1883 are also second and just four points behind Premier Division leaders Blyth Spartans with three games in hand. After winning seven games on the spin and scoring 23 goals along the way to keep the pressure on their North East rivals, Martin Gray and his Quakers will collect their award from EVO-STIK NPL representative Ogley at Heritage Park before kicking off against Nantwich Town next Thursday night (April 7).

In First Division North, a 12 point gap to Warrington might be too wide a gulf for the Moors to make up but Jason Ainsley's side are definitely the division's form team after being named as top performers in successive months, this time for seven wins and a single draw from eight outings.

Supporters who saw them net 29 times in March to take the title race to the wire will see them honoured by EVO-STIK NPL representative Ogley before they take on Bamber Bridge at The Brewery Field next Saturday (April 9).
