Tigers roaring after pulling plum tie!

By David Watters

The fans, players and officials of EVO-STIK League Hyde United almost brought the roof down at Ewen Fields during Monday night's televised draw from their home for the first round proper of the Emirates FA Cup!

The roar of delight from the fans, players and officials of the EVO-STIK League North's Tigers at booking a home tie with the League One club was broadcast around the world by the BBC and BT Sport to ensure they've made their mark on this season's competition whatever the outcome.

The Tigers are pictured on BBC2 celebrating as the draw was made and a delighted chairman Steve Hartley said: "We couldn't ask for more than a home game and against a big club. It's absolutely perfect for us. These guys deserve it. It's the best team this club has had in a long, long time."

Nantwich Town, facing a fourth and final qualifying round replay at Kettering Town on Tuesday night, will travel to Stevenage after the Dabbers were the first EVO-STIK League club drawn out of the hat by legendary Welsh striker and FA Cup winner Dean Saunders, the guest of honour at last season's EVO-STIK League Players of the Year Awards.

EVO-STIK League Premier Division Shaw Lane, Sunday winners over National League Barrow, have plenty to celebrate too after the high-flying Ducks were drawn at home to League Two Mansfield and Stags manager Steve Evans, another guest of honour at the EVO-STIK League Player of the Year Awards in 2016.

Ducks chairman Craig Wood told thebootifulgame.uk: "I am really happy with the draw, a dream come true to be playing a football league side in the FA cup and all the pressure will be on Mansfield. A great day for the town and all associated with the club."

If Grant Black and his Ossett Town side, one of the three lowest ranked clubs left in the competition along with the Tigers and Isthmian league Heybridge Swifts, can overcome Solihull Moors in their Tuesday night replay, the Ingfielders will host League Two Wycombe Wanderers in another money-spinning tie.

The 80 ties involving 42 Non-League clubs and the 48 clubs in League One and League Two sides are set to take place over the weekend of 3-6 November with winning clubs receiving £18,000 from the Football Association's prize fund. After all four of the EVO-STIK League's representatives booked standout ties, they'll also be hoping to bank lucrative TV fees after BT Sport and the BBC confirm their live coverage and highlights plans.
