EVO-STIK League Witton Albion have handed striker Alex Titchiner a second key off field post at Wincham Park.

Titchiner, pictured, was unveiled on Thursday as the club's new community project manager sixth months after returning from Fleetwood Town in January.

Designed to enhance the Premier Division club's work in the community, the role will run alongside the 23-year-old's first team commitments to manager Brian Pritchard and new position heading up the new NPL Football Academy for 16 to 18-year-olds which opens in September along with seven more at Radcliffe Borough, Burscough, Leek Town, Lancaster City, Mickleover Sports, Newcastle Town and Mossley.

Witton Albion's community department has launched its own Twitter feed and Facebook page and the former Crewe Alexander youngster is already working on a number of other new initiatives to roll out over the coming months. He will also combine his roles to show the young players coming through the importance of the local community in a football club's success.

Titchiner, who signed a two-year professional contract with Fleetwood Town in May 2012 and has spent time on loan at both Chester and FC Halifax, said: "The club shouldn’t just be open on match days, it is an integral part of the community and should be available seven days a week to the community.

"The aim of this role is to promote education, positive lifestyles and health all through football. We need to be reaching out to local schools, charities and businesses and work with them to give this town a football club they can be proud of.

The striker, with three spells under his belt at the club and 53 goals in 84 appearances, added: "I care about the Witton family and I want to put something back in to the club I love. I hope to attract those members of the local community that have never been to Wincham Park to get involved with some of the many projects we will be running and come and enjoy a matchday experience."
