Toon stars set for cup final replay

EVO-STIK League Blyth Spartans have announced that a Newcastle United XI are heading to Croft Park on Friday night to round off their pre-season campaign.

Tom Wade's side are at home to Grantham Town on the opening day of the Premier Division season and are hosting the Magpies in a replay of last season's Northumberland Senior Cup Final, a game won by Peter Beardsley's young United side.

Kick off is 7.30pm and fans who attend the clash will see plenty of connections with the St James Park club in the Spartans line-up.

Summer signings Ben Sayer and Alex Nicholson both spent time at the Premier League club's academy and Spartans will also have Samuel Perez, brother of Magpies forward Ayoze Perez who joined from Spanish club Tenerife during the summer, in their squad.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.
