Toon stopper arrives on loan

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Blyth Spartans agreed a deal with Newcastle United on Friday to sign teenager keeper Paul Woolston on loan.

The 18-year-old - who enjoyed a month's loan at National League North side and 2016 EVO-STIK NPL champions Darlington 1883 earlier this season - will go straight into Alun Armstrong's squad for Saturday's trip to Barwell in the top flight - as Spartans stopper Adam McHugh is an injury doubt for the game.

Washington-based Woolston has also represented his country at youth level and spent last summer helping England to the quarter-finals of the 2015 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
