Skelmersdale United moved to within six points of Evo-Stik Northern Premeir League First Division North leaders Mossley on Tuesday night as they ran riot at Shawbridge, leaving third-placed Clitheroe's unbeaten home league record in tatters, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Tom Hardwick, Josh Hine, Anthony Hickey and Rob McIntosh all scored before half-time for Skem, with Mark Buchan replying for the Blues. Adam Morning, Gary Burnett and Louis Corrigan all found the net for the visitors in the second period to make it 7-1 and take Skem's goal difference to plus twenty-four – two better than Mossley.

One consolation for Clitheroe is that at least they held onto third place in the table after Farsley FC went down to a 4-3 defeat to Trafford at Throstle Nest.

Goals from Adam Priestley and Josh Radcliffe had the hosts two goals to the good after just 18 minutes. Trafford pegged one back before the break through Michael Oates and then surged 4-2 up with goals from Steve Mason, Oates again and Will Ahern on 77 minutes before Priestley added his second a minute later. That win takes Trafford to within a point of Farsley in fifth.

Warrington Town extended their unbeaten run of league games to six in a goaless draw at fifth-placed Ramsbottom United.

Lancaster City capped off an indifferent October with defeat as a lone goal earns Cammell Laird all three points.

Jamie Henders' 65th minute goal was enough for Laird to take all three points from an otherwise close-fought encounter.

The other Tuesday game saw Burscough and Salford City share a 2-2 draw.

Danny White gave the 'Ammers a 13th minute lead that Louis Mayers cancelled out right on half-time. Danny Heffernan restored the visitors lead six minutes after the restart, only for Phil Clarke to earn the Linnets a point eight minutes from time.
